How to drive traffic to your website

As a blogger, digital marketer, and a business owner, driving mire traffic to your site should be the number one priority for you. When you get more traffic to your website, there are good chances for you to convert your casual website visitors into potential leads. If driving traffic to your website isn’t the number one priority for you – you’re either lying or you don’t understand online business.

Everyone likes a surge in their blog traffic overnight, isn’t it? If you can do that for a day, you can definitely achieve it for the long-term. That’s very much possible when you put in the right kind of efforts! If someone on the internet can do it (I’m looking at you, influencers) then, we, the common people can do it too.

With that, let’s see how you can drive traffic to your site like a pro!

Publish Quality Content, Often

The first and foremost rule is to consistently publish new content on your blog or website. Most growth hackers agree that publishing quality content plays a huge role in driving traffic to your website. At the least, try to post one article everyday and don’t make it too short.

Though search engines like Google likes long posts, for the start it doesn’t matter. We must get used to publishing regularly and that’s what matters right now. If you’re too busy with a hectic schedule, then I recommend you to publish at least 3-4 long posts each week.

The key is to publish regularly regardless of whether anyone is reading it or not. Try to get into a habit of writing regularly – you cannot become a pro content creator overnight! Everything takes its own time and our efforts can just push it bit faster.

Try to allocate some time each day for you to ponder over the topic and jot down some points related to the content you are going to publish on your site. This will allow you to create your post way faster when you’re in front of your PC and typing it into the editor. Lesser the time you take for brainstorming content for your posts, lesser will be its value to your potential readers. So, take your own sweet time and make a detailed sketch of it in your mind before beginning to write it down.

Publishing quality content regularly will help you rank better in search engine result pages along with providing value for your readers. To further optimize your content for search engines, use the free and powerful Yoast SEO plugin, if you’re using WordPress.

Also, harness the power of linking to internal and external content. Try to link to at least three of your own posts and two other external posts. Internal linking makes your readers glued to your site and reduces the bounce rate, which is seen as a good sign by Google. External linking help users build trust on the content they’re reading on your website.

When linking to an external site, try to link to sites with high authority (high quality/trustworthiness). This is because you don’t want to look shady in front of your readers and search engines.

Rethink Your Marketing Strategy

Have a look at your current strategy and create a list of what’s working and what’s not working. Try to understand what went wrong if a strategy is not working and try to change it rather than following the same mistake again and again.

Open up your site’s stats page and look at which posts are performing the best and understand what your readers interests are. Don’t create content which isn’t of interest to your readers – it is a waste of time, plus you’ll lose your reader’s interest. Creating new content based on your popular posts will also increase the time people spend on your website. This is because it will be of specific interest to them.

Also, try to understand at what time of a day or week your site is receiving much traffic or what time of the day the posts are popular with your readers. If your blog is popular on Sundays, try to post new content on Fridays or Saturdays. Always try to post one day prior to your most popular day. Always, keep an eye on your stats page and change your strategy as the graphs on your stats page changes.

Influencer Marketing is the Next Big Thing

Nowadays, people look towards social media influencers to make their day-to-day decisions. Influencer marketing is way powerful than you can imagine. It can skyrocket your growth to new heights which you wouldn’t have even thought about previously.

Getting in touch with powerful influencers has been never this easy – thanks to the internet and social media, you can easily approach them. Most of them read and reply to messages if they find it interesting. It all depends on how you approach them.

First of all, create a list of influencers you would like to approach. Then, create awesome content and promote these influencers on your posts. Now, it’s time for you to let them know you’ve promoted them in your posts. Though not many will share it instantly, some will respond by sharing it with their network (social media, email lists, etc). Even if just one or two influencers share it, it is a great news for the start!

Sometimes, influencers share other influencers posts in the same niche. Think will increase your site’s exposure dramatically, which is a very good sign for SEO.

Before approaching influencers, keep in mind that you shouldn’t ask/request/command/beg/whatever-it-maybe them to share your content. They will turn it down no matter how good the content may be. You and me aren’t the only one pinging them to share their influence with us. They find this behavior annoying.

Here’s where you need to be different from the rest of the pack. Just inform them of what you have done to promote them and provide the link at the bottom of the main content. Remember, when you do not ask for a share, you will most probably get it – and that’s how it works! 🙂

Here’s a structure of how your message should be –

Hey [Influencer Name]

I am [your name] from [your blog/company name along with the site address].

[Short message of what you’ve understood about the influencer] (2-3 lines but keep it short)

[A line or two about your post]

You can have a quick look at it over here 👉 [post URL]

Keep Rocking,

[Your first name].

That is exactly how you should communicate with influencers. You should be clear of who you are and where you’re from, you should make them feel that you’ve been following their posts for long enough and that they would genuinely appreciate your post.

Influencers can easily make out whether you’re genuine or not with your thoughts. So, don’t act as if you have been following them for long if you clearly haven’t done the same. Moreover, remember that they’re not species from another planet, and speaking to them like friends is all what it takes to get started.

Subscribers are your best Friends

Who said email marketing is dead? It’s 2017 and still growing strong. Email subscribers are one of your most valuable subscribers as the posts get directly delivered to their personal mailbox. Many people don’t give a fuck about email lists in the beginning only to regret later on why they hadn’t started sooner.

Mark my words, email lists are like diamonds among a heap of coal. Such is the value of an email list among all your subscribers across various channels (YouTube/Facebook/Twitter/etc).

There are numerous ways to grow your email list nowadays. Right from choosing AWeber for managing your email campaigns and newsletters to connecting it with OptinMonster lead-generation plugin for intelligently getting sign-ups for your newsletters on your website, you can easily get started with email automation, set up an auto-responder and split-test to increase your sales.

Here’s an exclusive deal for you – click here to get a FREE 30-days trial of AWeber email marketing platform. You can use it to create a special landing page for your social media subscribers and ask them to subscribe to your email lists. Try to collect as many emails as you can from safe sources.

You can also display a welcome mat to new visitors on your site, have a subscribe widget on your website’s sidebar, display a pop-up when visitor is going to exit the site, have an opt-in form at the end of your posts and carry out occasional freebies promotions to collect email addresses from your readers.

Follow the Pareto Principle

According to this principle, 80% of the results obtained depends on the 20% of the invested input. Though most people who aren’t aware of these strategies do exactly the opposite, here I am sharing with you the little trick most popular digital marketers use to drive traffic to their websites crazy as hell.

Always spend only 20% of your time creating content for your website or blog. Spend the rest of 80% of your time promoting your posts across various channels. Try to market your posts like it is your last chance to survive on this planet and make some money. Even the great Neil Patel follows this principle!

Make Yourself a Brand

You cannot achieve that spike in traffic you’re looking for without putting in some efforts. Though I do agree that in this fast-paced world it is quite difficult to allocate some time for managing various tasks such as creating and marketing content, it is a must. You need to do it to achieve that spike in graph in your stats page.

You can either make use of tools like Hootsuite, IFTTT, HubSpot or Buffer to automate your marketing tasks or you can completely outsource content writing and marketing (if you’ve got enough budget). This can greatly help if you’re a business owner and you do not have time or budget to hire a dedicated person or team for that job.

Conclusion

Driving traffic to your website like a pro requires the right efforts 💯 and some money, if you can afford it. Remember, content marketing is the key to success. And hey, don’t ever forget the Pareto principle and don’t let your competitors know that I was the one who taught you these tricks! 😉 Just kidding, try to share this post on at least one social network as a way of thanking me for this post if it helped you in better refining your content and marketing strategies.

So what are you waiting for? Start brainstorming ideas and strategies for your next blog post already! And hey, if you’ve got any other ideas or tips, do feel free to leave them out in the comments section below.
