How to collect PayPal payments on your WordPress site

There was once a time when people used to rely on PayPal for collecting online payments from their clients and customers. They still do – but the way they collect the payments are fast changing.

Instead of logging into your PayPal account each time, creating an invoice, and sending them over to the customer, more people are integrating PayPal with their WordPress sites and collecting them directly from their website itself. That’s definitely an improvement from the previous process. And, it saves a lot of time for both parties.

You can instead focus on getting more customers and growing your business.

Steps to enable PayPal support on WPForms

Here’s my step-by-step guide to create a payment form and accept PayPal payments online.

Total Time: 15 minutes

Install and activate WPForms

Once you have bought the WPForms Pro plugin, install and activate it on your site. The very first time, you will have to download it manually from your WPForms account and upload it to your website. Later on, once you have configured it with your license key, you can start receiving automatic updates on your site. And, you can update it just like any other WordPress plugin.download wpforms pro

Install WPForms PayPal add-on

Once you have installed WPForms Pro on your site, go to the WPForms –> Addons page from your WordPress dashboard and install the PayPal addon.wpforms addons admin page

Create a new payment form

You are now ready for creating payment forms on your WordPress site. Navigate to WPForms –> Add New page and create a new form. You can create a new one from scratch or choose one from the existing templates.

For this guide, I am choosing the Billing / Order Form template. Whatever you do, make sure you include at least one items field. It can be a single item or multiple items with a checkbox or dropdown. It’s completely up to you. Also, you shouldn’t add a Credit Card field when you’re creating a payment form using PayPal. They will collect such confidential information on behalf of you on their site once the user submits the form.create new billing order form using wpforms template

Connect your form with PayPal

Now that you have created a payment form on your site, go to Payments –> PayPal Standard from the form builder screen and check the box that says ‘Enable PayPal Standard payments’. It will now ask you to configure other mandatory information like – PayPal email address, mode, payment type, cancel URL, and shipping details if applicable. Optionally, you can also enable conditional logic to alter the form behavior depending on your user’s input.enable paypal payments for a wordpress form using wpforms pro

Once you have created your form and connected it with PayPal, you can save the changes and publish the form. To use the form anywhere on your website, just insert the WPForms block on the desired web page and select the payment form from the dropdown menu. That’s it.

You have now successfully created a payment form to collect PayPal payments on your site. You can view all the payments made through this form from your form entries page as seen below.
