The 5 Best Must Have Firefox Add-ons Of 2018

The 5 Best Must Have Firefox Add-ons Of 2018

I have compiled a list of top five must have add-ons for users of Mozilla’s Firefox browser. Though I do like using Firefox compared to other browsers, I have now switched back to Chromium – the open source web browser project from which Google Chrome derives its source code.

This list is totally based on the popularity of the add-ons and not on how useful they are. Most of these add-ons total to more than a hundred million downloads in 2016 alone, thereby making it to the list of most popular Firefox add-ons.

Adblock Plus

Adblock Plus allows you to regain control of the internet and view the web the way you want to. This add-on is supported by over forty filter subscriptions in dozens of languages which automatically configures it to remove online advertising and block all known malware domains. It also allows you to customize your filters with the assistance of a variety of useful features, including a context option for images, a block tab for Flash and Java objects, and a list of blockable items to remove scripts and style sheets.

uBlock Origin

uBlock Origin is an even more efficient ad blocker which is easy on your system’s resources and yet can load and enforce thousands more filters than other popular blockers out there. I highly recommend installing uBlock Origin rather than AdBlock Plus as I found this extension far better than other ad blockers.

Video DownloadHelper

Video DownloadHelper is the most complete extension which helps you in extracting videos and image files from website you visit and save them to your hard drive.

For example, if you are watching a video on YouTube, you will be able to download the video directly to your system. It also works with most sites like DailyMotion, Facebook, Periscope, Vimeo, Twitch, Liveleak, Vine, UStream, Fox, Bloomberg, RAI, France 2-3, Break, Metacafe and many more.

anonymoX

AnonymoX is an initiative which allows users to stay anonymous on the internet. The aim of this add-on is to restore the users right  to remain anonymous while surfing the web. This is because most of the websites you visit out there monitor and track your behavior, giving websites owners the ability to analyze the visitors behavior and create detailed user profiles, which are frequently sold to third parties.

Flash Video Downloader – YouTube HD Download [4K]

Unlike the previously mentioned Video DownloadHelper add-on, this add-on will help you download videos and audio from practically any website. It also helps you find links to videos, pictures, audio and other file formats (such as .swf or .exe) on any website.

When the arrow on the add-on button changes its color to blue, it means that the add-on has found a downloadable video or content on the current page. For example, you will be able to download videos from YouTube in several different formats (HD, MP4, Low FLV, etc.). It is also worth pointing out that the add-on can also filter out ad clips!

Thus I hope you found this list of top five add-ons for Firefox useful. If you liked this, you might also be interested in reading my post on how to unsubscribe from all unwanted newsletters at one go. If you haven’t got Firefox browser yet, you can get it from here.
