Hey there, welcome to my blog. If you don’t know me yet, I am Antony Agnel, a web designer and content writer based out of Chennai, India. I have been blogging since 2016 and playing around with WordPress even before that. I have got experience in content writing, search engine optimization, and social media marketing apart from the usual stuff. In 2015, I took a break from my college life and dived into the WordPress ecosystem after I couldn’t cope with the ‘monotonous life of an engineering student in India’ syndrome. It was stressful, and I badly needed a break. That’s when WordPress happened.
WordPress + Me = ❤️
I started spending more time with WordPress – taught myself the basics of web design and kept building (and breaking) websites to learn how WordPress works. Since I didn’t know how to code, I couldn’t get into development. But I was able to find my way around WP. It was at that time I realized that WP was my future. I finally dropped out of college and enrolled myself in another university which accommodated my interest in web design and gave me the freedom to pursue extracurricular activities. Thanks to WordPress, my life became really better and I am happy because of it. If not for WordPress, I don’t know where I would be now or what I’d be doing.
What I do at work
I work at rtCamp (an enterprise WordPress solutions agency and WordPress.com VIP Partner) as a content writer and I am responsible for writing content for their websites. Right now, we are working on an exciting project dedicated to the WordPress developer community and I can’t wait to finish it.
I also help people build their personal blogs and business websites as a freelance web designer. I design websites which are well optimized, don’t take ages to load and are user-friendly. It gives me a sense of satisfaction.
Basically, I’m an introvert and my personality type is ‘ISTP-A’ (The Virtuoso). Just the thought of starting a conversation with someone can make me feel drained and I like to spend most of my time being alone. But it doesn’t mean that I don’t hang out with people at all. It just takes some time for me to get comfortable around people, and once I feel good, I can keep talking all day.
Then, I like surfing the web, keeping myself updated with the latest happenings in the tech industry. Also, I love promoting WordPress, and Firefox.
During the weekends, I take out my Royal Enfield Thunderbird X for a ride with my friends. It helps keep me sane and gives me the much-needed break I need from the digital world (computers and the internet).
Why I started this blog
I started this blog so that I can reach a whole lot of people out there and share my knowledge with them. Ever since I realized I could make an impact on the web by making it a better place for everyone, I have been constantly learning, experimenting, and sharing blogging tips, WordPress tutorials, SEO techniques, and marketing tactics on my blog. But I didn’t stop with blogging; I started designing websites and writing content for individuals, small businesses, and organizations to further expand my knowledge and experience on the art of designing websites and writing search engine friendly content. The mandatory conclusion
In my free time, I try to help people out in the WordPress.com Support Forums/Quora (not much active these days). My dream is to land myself a job at Automattic, the company behind WordPress.com, WooCommerce, Jetpack, etc. If you found my posts helpful, you can consider buying me a coffee to cheer me up.
That’s all for now! 🙂
