Now that you know how to create a blog and have started blogging, it’s time to throw some light on how to come up with great blog post ideas whenever you feel like you’re stuck or have hit a roadblock. Writer’s block is real!
No one can come up with awesome blog post ideas every time they sit in front of their laptop or smartphone to create a new blog post. I myself face this regularly. But then, I figured out a way to overcome this by coming up with new blog post ideas. This way, I don’t have to stop blogging at any time for any reason. Now, I’m going to share the same tips with you hoping that you would find them useful as well.
To maintain the health of your blog, you need to publish new content on your blog at least once a week or two. This makes your blog look fresh and updated in the eyes of search engines. Now, here are some ideas for you to get new blog post ideas every time you open your site –
Create and share lists
To be honest, this is one of the easiest and quickest ways to come up with a new blog post idea. You can create and share listicles like top 10 posts of the year, 20 things I’ve learned since being single, 10 reasons we’ve been too slow in responding to climate change, 12 really important reasons you are running late, 50 split-testing ideas, 11 things to never say to a student, 20 more ways I’ve failed at my 20’s, 10 reasons you’ll want to eat while reading this, 8 reasons to avoid listicles 😛 etc. I hope you are able to get an idea of what listicles mean from the above sample titles.
You can also write a tutorial/guide for something (like cooking a new dish or putting up a new makeup you found on the internet) by adding each instruction as a separate step. If possible, you can create a list of your top 10 favorite niche bloggers and share them on your blog and ask them to share it with their followers.
For example, if you are a beauty blogger, you can create a list of ‘top 10 beauty bloggers to follow in 2023’ and feature your favorite beauty bloggers who have a considerable influence and a good number of followers in that post. Once you have published the post, notify them that you have featured them in the list and politely ask them to share it with their followers. This is beneficial for both, your own blog and the other bloggers whom you have featured on that list – you get the blog traffic and they get the recognition for their work.
Ask your readers
If you are not comfortable with creating lists and publishing them on your blog, you can ask your friends and followers to suggest you new ideas for your next blog post. By doing so, you will be able to create content that your readers would like to see from you. I myself follow this method most of the time and have tasted success with it – I got many requests from my readers asking me to share more information on affiliate marketing for blog monetization. So, I sat down and created a post just for those followers and published it as the first post of the year. Here is an example –

Another method you can follow is by running a poll on your blog asking your readers to vote for their favorite topic in your niche. You can then pick the choice with the highest number of votes and create a new post on that topic. Or maybe you can organize a giveaway where you can ask your blog followers to suggest new blog post ideas and you can send them a freebie or a gift card if you liked it well and compelling enough to make you think about it.
Compare two products or services
When you’re totally out of ideas for your next blog post, you can choose multiple products or services from your blogging niche and compare them. For example, if you are a video game blogger, you can compare video game platforms like Steam, Microsoft, Epic Games, EA App, Ubisoft Connect, etc. Or, you can compare different gaming consoles like Xbox, PlayStation, etc. If that isn’t enough, you can even compare gaming accessories like a mouse, keyboard, headset, chairs, etc. The options are endless.
Look for trending ideas
The internet is a powerful source of information that you can use to look for trending topics or events in your blogging niche. I would suggest you use Google Trends to understand what topics are trending in any country – this will be very useful if you are targeting an audience from select countries only. Alternatively, you can use Google Daily Search Trends to see which topics are trending each day in any country. Another tip would be to read other blogs in your niche and steal ideas from them – there’s nothing wrong with it unless you explicitly copy their content and invite the wrath of Google. Google absolutely hates copied duplicate content.

Share your opinion
People love to read others’ opinions on issues of mutual interest. If you are on Medium, you would often come across these types of posts – people being critical of new government rules and regulations, news, other bloggers’ views, etc. When the news of Uber’s sexual harassment scandal broke out, many bloggers and independent publishers came out in support of the affected parties. The same was the case when FCC decided to vote against net neutrality – many people came up with blog posts sharing their views and opinions on the issue.
Review a product or service
If you are into affiliate marketing or a blogging niche with many products and services in the market, you can choose to review and promote them on your blog. Write down a short description of the company or brand before you start reviewing the product. Tell your readers how you found the product useful and why they will find it useful too. Make sure you are sharing images of the product you are reviewing and add a link back to the product within your review.
For example, you can use these templates for reviewing your product –
- Learn The Truth About _____ In The Next 60 Seconds
- Seven Pieces of Advice That You Must Listen Before Buying _____
- Seven Things To Know About _____
- The Ten Reasons Tourists Love _____ (if you are reviewing a place you recently visited)

Ahh… rightly said.
Hey Antony, wanted to ask you about the post format thing while blogging. Mine always stays “quote”… Though I never understood this part and functions of the other options under the post format. Will you enlighten me?
Hey Sanchali, I can understand your concern regarding blog post formats. When you change the post format, the content will remain as it is but the appearance and styling changes depending on the format selected. Sometimes, if you start a new post containing a gallery, video, audio track, or quote, your theme may automatically apply the related post format. But you can always choose ‘Standard’ if you would prefer the default layout (recommended). The ‘Quote’ post format is used for highlighting your blockquoted text in a bolder way than standard posts typically do. Hope my answer helps you in clearing your doubts.
Thank you Antony…I think just because I use it mostly from phone so didn’t understand the difference .
Well, now I hope you finally got your doubt cleared.
